The Russian Sleep Experiment

one of the biggest creepy-pastas out there... enjoy:

Russian researchers in the late 1940s kept five people awake for fifteen days using an experimental gas based stimulant. They were kept in a sealed environment to carefully monitor their oxygen intake so the gas didn’t kill them, since it was toxic in high concentrations. This was before closed circuit cameras so they had only microphones and 5 inch thick glass porthole sized windows into the chamber to monitor them. The chamber was stocked with books, cots to sleep on but no bedding, running water and toilet, and enough dried food to last all five for over a month.

The test subjects were political prisoners deemed enemies of the state during World War II.

Everything was fine for the first five days; the subjects hardly complained having been promised (falsely) that they would be freed if they submitted to the test and did not sleep for 30 days. Their conversations and activities were monitored and it was noted that they continued to talk about increasingly traumatic incidents in their past, and the general tone of their conversations took on a darker aspect after the 4 day mark.

After five days they started to complain about the circumstances and events that lead them to where they were and started to demonstrate severe paranoia. They stopped talking to each other and began alternately whispering to the microphones and one way mirrored portholes. Oddly they all seemed to think they could win the trust of the experimenters by turning over their comrades, the other subjects in captivity with them. At first the researchers suspected this was an effect of the gas itself…

After nine days the first of them started screaming. He ran the length of the chamber repeatedly yelling at the top of his lungs for 3 hours straight, he continued attempting to scream but was only able to produce occasional squeaks. The researchers postulated that he had physically torn his vocal cords. The most surprising thing about this behavior is how the other captives reacted to it… or rather didn’t react to it. They continued whispering to the microphones until the second of the captives started to scream. The 2 non-screaming captives took the books apart, smeared page after page with their own feces and pasted them calmly over the glass portholes. The screaming promptly stopped.

So did the whispering to the microphones.

After 3 more days passed, the researchers checked the microphones hourly to make sure they were working, since they thought it impossible that no sound could be coming with 5 people inside. The oxygen consumption in the chamber indicated that all 5 must still be alive. In fact it was the amount of oxygen 5 people would consume at a very heavy level of strenuous exercise. On the morning of the 14th day the researchers did something they said they would not do to get a reaction from the captives, they used the intercom inside the chamber, hoping to provoke any response from the captives they were afraid were either dead or vegetables.

They announced: “We are opening the chamber to test the microphones step away from the door and lie flat on the floor or you will be shot. Compliance will earn one of you your immediate freedom.”

To their surprise they heard a single phrase in a calm voice response: “We no longer want to be freed.”

Debate broke out among the researchers and the military forces funding the research. Unable to provoke any more response using the intercom it was finally decided to open the chamber at midnight on the fifteenth day.

The chamber was flushed of the stimulant gas and filled with fresh air and immediately voices from the microphones began to object. 3 different voices began begging, as if pleading for the life of loved ones to turn the gas back on. The chamber was opened and soldiers sent in to retrieve the test subjects. They began to scream louder than ever, and so did the soldiers when they saw what was inside. Four of the five subjects were still alive, although no one could rightly call the state that any of them in ‘life.’

The food rations past day 5 had not been so much as touched. There were chunks of meat from the dead test subject’s thighs and chest stuffed into the drain in the center of the chamber, blocking the drain and allowing 4 inches of water to accumulate on the floor. Precisely how much of the water on the floor was actually blood was never determined. All four ‘surviving’ test subjects also had large portions of muscle and skin torn away from their bodies. The destruction of flesh and exposed bone on their finger tips indicated that the wounds were inflicted by hand, not with teeth as the researchers initially thought. Closer examination of the position and angles of the wounds indicated that most if not all of them were self-inflicted.

The abdominal organs below the ribcage of all four test subjects had been removed. While the heart, lungs and diaphragm remained in place, the skin and most of the muscles attached to the ribs had been ripped off, exposing the lungs through the ribcage. All the blood vessels and organs remained intact, they had just been taken out and laid on the floor, fanning out around the eviscerated but still living bodies of the subjects. The digestive tract of all four could be seen to be working, digesting food. It quickly became apparent that what they were digesting was their own flesh that they had ripped off and eaten over the course of days.

Most of the soldiers were Russian special operatives at the facility, but still many refused to return to the chamber to remove the test subjects. They continued to scream to be left in the chamber and alternately begged and demanded that the gas be turned back on, lest they fall asleep…

To everyone’s surprise the test subjects put up a fierce fight in the process of being removed from the chamber. One of the Russian soldiers died from having his throat ripped out, another was gravely injured by having his testicles ripped off and an artery in his leg severed by one of the subject’s teeth. Another 5 of the soldiers lost their lives if you count ones that committed suicide in the weeks following the incident.

In the struggle one of the four living subjects had his spleen ruptured and he bled out almost immediately. The medical researchers attempted to sedate him but this proved impossible. He was injected with more than ten times the human dose of a morphine derivative and still fought like a cornered animal, breaking the ribs and arm of one doctor. When heart was seen to beat for a full two minutes after he had bled out to the point there was more air in his vascular system than blood. Even after it stopped he continued to scream and flail for another 3 minutes, struggling to attack anyone in reach and just repeating the word “MORE” over and over, weaker and weaker, until he finally fell silent.

The surviving three test subjects were heavily restrained and moved to a medical facility, the two with intact vocal cords continuously begging for the gas demanding to be kept awake…

The most injured of the three was taken to the only surgical operating room that the facility had. In the process of preparing the subject to have his organs placed back within his body it was found that he was effectively immune to the sedative they had given him to prepare him for the surgery. He fought furiously against his restraints when the anesthetic gas was brought out to put him under. He managed to tear most of the way through a 4 inch wide leather strap on one wrist, even through the weight of a 200 pound soldier holding that wrist as well. It took only a little more anesthetic than normal to put him under, and the instant his eyelids fluttered and closed, his heart stopped. In the autopsy of the test subject that died on the operating table it was found that his blood had triple the normal level of oxygen. His muscles that were still attached to his skeleton were badly torn and he had broken 9 bones in his struggle to not be subdued. Most of them were from the force his own muscles had exerted on them.

The second survivor had been the first of the group of five to start screaming. His vocal cords destroyed he was unable to beg or object to surgery, and he only reacted by shaking his head violently in disapproval when the anesthetic gas was brought near him. He shook his head yes when someone suggested, reluctantly, they try the surgery without anesthetic, and did not react for the entire 6 hour procedure of replacing his abdominal organs and attempting to cover them with what remained of his skin. The surgeon presiding stated repeatedly that it should be medically possible for the patient to still be alive. One terrified nurse assisting the surgery stated that she had seen the patients mouth curl into a smile several times, whenever his eyes met hers.

When the surgery ended the subject looked at the surgeon and began to wheeze loudly, attempting to talk while struggling. Assuming this must be something of drastic importance the surgeon had a pen and pad fetched so the patient could write his message. It was simple. “Keep cutting.”

The other two test subjects were given the same surgery, both without anesthetic as well. Although they had to be injected with a paralytic for the duration of the operation. The surgeon found it impossible to perform the operation while the patients laughed continuously. Once paralyzed the subjects could only follow the attending researchers with their eyes. The paralytic cleared their system in an abnormally short period of time and they were soon trying to escape their bonds. The moment they could speak they were again asking for the stimulant gas. The researchers tried asking why they had injured themselves, why they had ripped out their own guts and why they wanted to be given the gas again.

Only one response was given: “I must remain awake.”

All three subject’s restraints were reinforced and they were placed back into the chamber awaiting determination as to what should be done with them. The researchers, facing the wrath of their military ‘benefactors’ for having failed the stated goals of their project considered euthanizing the surviving subjects. The commanding officer, an ex-KGB instead saw potential, and wanted to see what would happen if they were put back on the gas. The researchers strongly objected, but were overruled.

In preparation for being sealed in the chamber again the subjects were connected to an EEG monitor and had their restraints padded for long term confinement. To everyone’s surprise all three stopped struggling the moment it was let slip that they were going back on the gas. It was obvious that at this point all three were putting up a great struggle to stay awake. One of subjects that could speak was humming loudly and continuously; the mute subject was straining his legs against the leather bonds with all his might, first left, then right, then left again for something to focus on. The remaining subject was holding his head off his pillow and blinking rapidly. Having been the first to be wired for EEG most of the researchers were monitoring his brain waves in surprise. They were normal most of the time but sometimes flat lined inexplicably. It looked as if he were repeatedly suffering brain death, before returning to normal. As they focused on paper scrolling out of the brainwave monitor only one nurse saw his eyes slip shut at the same moment his head hit the pillow. His brainwaves immediately changed to that of deep sleep, then flatlined for the last time as his heart simultaneously stopped.

The only remaining subject that could speak started screaming to be sealed in now. His brainwaves showed the same flatlines as one who had just died from falling asleep. The commander gave the order to seal the chamber with both subjects inside, as well as 3 researchers. One of the named three immediately drew his gun and shot the commander point blank between the eyes, then turned the gun on the mute subject and blew his brains out as well.

He pointed his gun at the remaining subject, still restrained to a bed as the remaining members of the medical and research team fled the room. “I won’t be locked in here with these things! Not with you!” he screamed at the man strapped to the table. “WHAT ARE YOU?” he demanded. “I must know!”

The subject smiled.

“Have you forgotten so easily?” The subject asked. “We are you. We are the madness that lurks within you all, begging to be free at every moment in your deepest animal mind. We are what you hide from in your beds every night. We are what you sedate into silence and paralysis when you go to the nocturnal haven where we cannot tread.”

The researcher paused. Then aimed at the subject’s heart and fired. The EEG flatlined as the subject weakly choked out, “So… nearly… free…”

shivers as always...

Hi!
This Sunday I began my Peruvian cuisine courses and this is the plate that we made. It is a pair of liver brochettes accompanied with some fried yucca chips, stir fried corn, and a red onion salad. This plate comes altogether as the onion and the liver interact to create a delicious sour and spicy flavor. It may look simple, but it is really delicious.

Hi!
Today I have another delicious plate from Peruvian cuisine. A true classic. Poached eggs in Huancaina sauce. This plate makes an excellent breakfast as it has a really soft and fine flavor. However, when you eat them, they feel like eating soft sand. It is really strange to get used to their texture.

CANNABIS

Cannabis is the drug that every person in this world knows, probably by trying it once or just hearing about it. It has a long history, lots of cultures have experienced the effects of this drug, only that in ancient times it use was meant only for contact with gods. Now, in our world millions consume this drug for the THC that is the component responsible for the known effects such as a relaxed state of mind and helping philosophical thinking. This plant is also known for generating paranoia in some cases and anxiety. Investigations have helped people get to know this drug more, avoiding the taboo generated by society, this helped uncover lots of good uses for this drug as medicine and industry  The only addiction it can generate is a psychological addiction due to its effects, it can not generate a physiological dependence because the THC is a substance that the body produces in the liver so the body will always have it in low doses unless its consumed. Two of the most known ways to consume this drug are to smoke or vaporize it and to eat it directly in foods or cakes. Effects are known to last more when the plant is ingested. The real problem with this drug is the smell that can bother people around the consumer, the illegal commerce and gangs generated by its prohibition, long term effects such as lung efficiency reduction and lower IQ and that it can take consumers to consume different drugs that can be a lot more dangerous, this can happen because its known that cannabis effects reduce with time and resistance to the THC increases each time its consumed.

Slender-like stories

A good old creepy pasta came to me again this week and it was pretty interesting to see that although, it was some years before the whole Slender-man Creepy pasta was invented, this type of stories were posted online a long time ago. My theory is that these stories were the ones that molded Slenderman to what it is today since every similar story has some strange slimy figure, with unknown factions coming after kids specifically. of course stories may vary but as I said, they molded the character turning it into a faceless tall man hiding in the woods tormenting underaged boys and girls in his territory. Here is the story I read some years back:
11:45 PM
911: 911 what is your emergency?

Child Caller: I think I need the police

911: Ok what's your adress?

Caller:************ street

Caller: there is this person standing in my back yard

911: can you describe what it looks like?

Caller: I can't see his face

911: what's he wearing?

Caller: he's got like a hooded sweatshirt, I think, on. I don't know. He has like a hood over him

911: ehat is he doing?

Caller: He is just standing there looking at me

911: Ok is your mom and dad there with you?

Caller: I can't find them.

Caller: Mom, Dad come here! ..... They're gone, Im scared

911: Okay, the police are on their way ok?

Caller: please hurry

911: Do you have a place where youcan hide?

Caller: He's gone! I don't see him!

911: what happened?

Caller: he just dissapeared.

Caller: No no! Help!!

911: Okay, calm down. What's going on?

Caller: He's tapping the window, on the side of my house

911: what does he look like?

Caller: He has a really big smile and no eyes. Please help me!

Caller: Im going to hide in my closet

911: Ok go hide. The police are on their way alright?

Caller: Okay

911: Are you hiding?

Caller: In my closet. Upstairs

Caller: *whispers*

911: what?

Caller: He is in my house

Caller: Running around really fast

Caller: he stopped

Caller: NO! *whimpers* he is running upstairs!

Unknown: FOUND YOU FOUND YOU FOUND YOU FOUND YOU FOUND YOU

When the police arrived they found a dead boy, age 11 in his parents closet. His eyes were gouged out. His parents bodies were found in the backyard's swimming pool. Both their eyelids were removed and most of their mouth tissue including lips were torn off with scissors. Multiple stab wounds in their stomach and neck.

It was one of the first creepy pastas I had read and actually believed it was true at a point. It was a good story. It gives me nostalgia.

Floripondio Tea

The floripondio tea is an infusion of a small flower that grows in Latin America and Europe in gardens and in wild environments. Its not hard to find and most people don't know the hidden powers of this common flower, most of them drink the tea without knowing it contains scopolamine, a dangerous narcotic used by robbers and rapists to make their job easier. It generates hallucinations (not only visual, also physical), makes the person feel extremely drunk, the effects of the drug may last from three to seventy-two hours and the risk of scopolamine overdose is very high. Consumers under the effect of the drug loose all contact with the real world, they interact with unreal objects and living things. Results and effects of the drug are known to vary on each person.

Staring Into the Void

So I was lurking the web and I found a curious story about a man who had recently convinced himself that what he was experiencing as life was not real, and he  was so certain of it that he actually had suicidal tendencies, like wanting to crash his vehicle at full speed just to see what happens because he is so convinced he is not real. So looking up his condition, I found out that his condition actually has a name. The french call it, "Staring into the Void" which is a condition that slowly starts destroying one's nerves until it turns into complete dementia. So digging a bit deeper I found an interesting story, and it goes as follows:
"In 1846 a russian psychologist recieved a patient in a small town outside present day Perm, that had been pronounced dead during a routine surgery, but was revived and awoken 30 min. later. The patient claimed that he had gone to hell and the demons were among us talking to him. Although the psychologist provided help, the demented man committed suicide in his home. before the patient died he revealed to the Dr. his experience in hell. He described hell as an infinite strand of layers . He explained them in detail, and said  he only made it through 5.
Layer 1
Life moves as normal, you do not know or feel as if you have died. You are thrown to a point in your life and get to live it over as a dream. no matter what you do however... Something is off. This was told to be the worst part of hell because "hope" still remains in your mind. But there is no hope

Layer 2
Everything you love becomes lost to you in the most inimaginable way. The demons who had played as humans in layer 1 begin to emerge to show their true form and begin to torment you. There is no escape, there is no rest. when described, this layer was compared to 20, 30 years in length.

Layer 3
Emptiness and Anxiety. The two words the patient repeated over and over to the doctor after being tortured and haunted for so long, that is all you know. Suddenly however everything is gone. No trace of life or interaction. you can't escape the loneliness, but every second you fear they are coming... they are coming.

Layer 4
This is where it gets tricky. This level is where human comprehension can not fully understand the torment. Hell turns inward and you no longer exist in a n understandable time or space. The slight hope and comfort that had existed up to this point are completely abandoned. This level was described as multiple life-times in length. Reality is redefined.

Layer 5
The patient trembled and became pale when he spoke about this level. he whispered and whimpered continuously. He reviled that he was only in this level for 5 minutes before he was revived. He described it as such.
"You are in black water. In an abyss that knows no light. There is something arround you. Its colossal... It torments me.""
an interesting story indeed, it is doubtful how ever to expect that the condition mentioned in the beggining was taken from this, but as Nietsche said, "If you stare into the abyss, the abyss always stares back." nothing unusual or even real here, just found this story and wanted to share it with you.

Jazz: a Never Ending Experience

In the recent days, I've been exploring the world of jazz music and it's different styles. I found out that my favorite styles are swing, big band and gypsy jazz, upbeat and fast, yet full of feeling and envolving sounds and scales. I've been trying to understand how it's made and how musicians are able to blend together in order to make this excelent music. As a pianist I try to play this, but I still need much practice and knowledge to be able to play with such flow tha the music simply pour out of my pores like any jazz musician does, my hope is to form a jazz group and jam on different places.

I leave you to listen and enjoy some examles of this wonderful genre.

Grand Theft Auto making a grand refreshing entrance Into Open World games

Grand Theft Auto has been one of my favorite series in gaming since I was able to beat people to death in GTA 3. Now when Grand Theft Auto V was announced I definitely flipped out and got super excited and happy for more information. The game was set to release in spring 2013 but was sadly pushed back until September 17th due to polishing it and making it an amazing installment to an amazing series. In comparison to the last installments you will have 3 protagonist to play in what seems to be a very extensive campaign. You will be able to play with Trevor, Franklin, and Michael (as pictured above) for both campaign missions or just to explore the new and improved Los Santos map. The map is something that is just revolutionary, even though we have no idea of how big the map is just yet this is what Rockstar (the developer of the game) said about it "Rockstar says the map is 3.5 times bigger than Red Dead Redemption -- 5 times bigger if you include topography, as representatives kept talking about be depths of the ocean. In fact, it’s so big, you could fit the Red Dead, GTA IV and GTA: San Andreas maps into the GTA V map and have room to spare. But even without those stats, it'd be clear how huge the world is just by watching it in action." The map of this new game is bigger than the 3 pictured above. I am really excited for everything you will be able to do in the game. From some more screenshots we can see activities include diving, golf, tennis, planning heists and well eventually executing your plans to get great amounts of money.

The Grifter

So, there are few things that have disturbed me in my life. But one of them surely is this strange video which came to life thanks to the popular boards of 4chan, to which we can take as the origin of this strange legend. initially brought up by the 4chan board /x/ of an anonymous poster who asked where could he find the source of the video since he had been trouble sleeping due to constant nightmares he/she had after watching the video, and soon everyone in that post started posting about how horrible it was. after a while some claim that the one who brought the video up had killed himself and that many of the people who saw the video started having nightmares and depression. Taken from another source: "The OP posted the link after saying how fucked up it was. It was real grainy and, from what I remember, it showed strange images like a bathtub full of writing maggots, haunting paintings from old times melting, random forests, flashing colors, and text in another language. All the while, a strange voice spoke. It sounded like a strange murmur; if you've seen the 'there is nothing' video, it was like that but more indistinguishable. The graininess eventually lifted a little and showed a video of a small puppy being held up by its neck. It was moving as if it were in pain, but its cries were like a human child's. It then cut to a nursery with lots of cradles. Children were still in the cots, but looked as if they were dead. The camera panned over to one of the cots and one of the newborns rose up a little, began to cry, and bled from the eyes and mouth. There was another shot of the basement (like the original picture) with a bloodstained malformed hand disappearing into it. Finally, it showed more text (someone claimed it said "your race is the one that is dying.") with images of a plant rotting, close-ups of corpses, and what I can only describe as being 'real' cases of exorcism and demonic posession. These clearly have never been seen outside the country of origin.

While the scene plays, the voice that was speaking breaks out into screams of intense pain and suffering, which is just as deeply chilling as the initial shock of it. The creepy, radio-like murmuring is speaking throughout the whole video." After that the word spread and was tried to be posted on youtube, but was removed quickly due to several complaints. Now there are at least 5 versions scattered all over youtube and it is said that everyone of them is fake and finally, the story along with the video was considered as another well made creepy-pasta. But I decided to go deeper into the web, and every little source I found lead to nothing and when I finally found something, it was from a page of a russian goverments under classified information, so it wouldn't let me in. question is, is it real? or is it just another troll with excessive amount of free time and a creative mind ? the choice is yours. I wpuld leave the video here, but the real video it is said to be at least 4 minutes long or 3, most of the ones posted on youtube have 1 minute or less, so feel free to check them out.

Sicotrópico: a great blend between Rock and Latin rythms

Sicotrópico is a Folk Rock band from Bogotá with a different perspective of folk rock. This band has a great taste in latin folkloric music and they are rising to become a well known band in Bogota.

I had the oportunity to meet them thanks to a friend of mine, and they gave me a signed copy of their album "Sicotrópico". This album has a total of 6 songs:
1. Veneno
2. Espuma de Mar
3.  El Rio
4. Coca-man TV
5. Elkín
6. Algo Para Mí
Each of the songs has a unique style each one reflecting the diferent fascets of latin music. I think that the first half of the album is excelent, and as a musician I aspire to be able to mix two diferent music styles as they do; my favourite song is "El Rio". On the other hand, the second half isn't as good as the first even though it's still as elavorate, I don't like much the style they use. Their latest songs don't have the same latin influence as these, yet they have great potential.

I recomend you hear this band and give me your opinions.

AMERICAN MARY

While I was surfing on Youtube I found a section of movie trailer, I didn't expected to find this one. I had to watch the trailer two times: one, because I didn't understand it, and two because the scenes were totally shocking. American Mary is a Canadian horror film starring Katharine Isabelle and directed by The Soska Sisters, who also act in it.

I will leave this trailer here, I will not give you a summary of it, but when you start to watch it you have to finish it completely, the scene, the actor, everything make the movie very interesting and feed our brains. just the first scenes of the trailer and the little of information about the story make this movie an interesting chioce to watch...
METHAMPHETAMINE

This is probably the worst drug that a person can consume. People that decide to consume this drug destroy their lives, it affects the brain and the person starts to feel excess of self confidence, power, energy, concentration and anger. It can also make the person have hallucinations and many mental disorders. The effects of this drug in the body are weight gain or loss depending on the consumer, skin perforations made by the consumer in the hallucinations, brain and nervous system degradation and heart diseases among others. The worst part of this drug may be that the consumer can not maintain either a job of social relations, making them end on the streets where they will have to rob or work as prostitutes to get the money for their dose.
This are some of the worst cases that show the physical degradation generated by this drug:

Crepes

So...today I did some delicious crepes at my French cuisine classes. They are filled with saltée shrimps with a white wine sauce. Totally delicious.
French cuisine is characterized by delicate flavors that complement each other and end up giving a strong well balanced plate.

A really appealing plate great for almost any special occasion.

Bioshock Infinte

Bioshock Infinite is looking to step up as one of the best games in recent memory. This game is located in a magical city in the clouds called Columbia. Now this game is magical like the last two Bioshock's adding things that give you special abilities like healing or setting people on fire. Unlike the last two, this game was delayed for nearly a year making people be a little skeptical about it but now that it has come out it hasn't disappointed and it looks like it will be a Big Game of The Year (GoTY) contender at the end of the year awards.
